What did you start doing that you’ve stopped doing?
Have you ever read something, been to an insightful workshop or had a significant conversation with someone that triggered a positive change in your life?
Now think 2 weeks or 1 month down the track.
Are you still implementing that positive change?
Or has life got in the way and maybe you’ve become slack or forgotten about the change you wanted to implement.
For me, this was during my experience of having counselling. I was introduced to this concept of Self Care and valuing myself. I began, over many months, to discover who I am, value that person and begin to implement self care into my everyday life….
Now, many months and years down the track and life is trying to take over. I have more on my plate than ever before and I’ve realised I’ve let my good habits fade. One of my goals is to live what I believe and one of those things is to do something for myself everyday, or implement self care into my daily life.
So my self care tip for you (and especially me) today is to revise the change you wanted to implement, or revise the new habit you wanted to do. Ask yourself:
What did I want to implement?
What is getting in the way of doing it?
What do I need to do to make it happen again (if I want to go back to it)?
When will I implement this change again? (Set a date and time to get back on track)
For me, it’s implementing self care into my everyday life. I want to do at least one thing everyday that shows me that I value who I am.
So for now… I’m off to sit for 10 minutes and reflect on how I can implement self care into my everyday life again. I’m going to brainstorm what I can do that shows me value and make a list and then maybe even plan out how this will happen. I’m a planner so it comes naturally to me. For others who aren’t planners, this may be harder. However I think it’s important to make a plan, it’s the plan that will help you make time to value yourself to do whatever you wanted to implement.
