Self Care Tip – Write a Handwritten Letter
When was the last time you wrote a hand written letter?
Last week? Last month? Most likely last year or many years ago. The art of hand written letters is almost extinct, and it’s you who can help redeem the once vital part of culture.
Most things are now at the click of a button or the swipe of a screen… It usually takes 1 or 2 minutes to send a text or email. I wonder what would happen if the art of hand written letters became popular and normal again. I know, I know you are probably thinking “are you kidding me? why would I spend time writing when I can send a text or email in half the amount of time and most likely get a response sooner?”
Writing a letter to someone you care about is good for the soul. It helps your mind and heart to slow down emotionally, to really take in what you are doing. It uses a different part of your brain and can really show the person receiving it how much time and effort you went to, to send them a letter. It can make them feel loved, cared for and valued… something many people don’t feel these days.
My Self Care tip for today is to write a hand written letter to someone (or maybe send a postcard from your holidays to someone random!). The letter could be telling them about your day or week, or maybe it’s an encouragement letter. A letter to simply say “I’m thinking of you and I think you’re fabulous! Keep on keeping on!” Those few words in hand written form could change a life.
I have been writing letters more this year than ever before and the amount of comments I’ve had that it has really lifted their day or week has been immense. That response in turn boosts my soul and spirit to keep blessing and encouraging people.
Spend 70 cents on postage today. It may just change a life.
